We have tried to do some fun things this summer, especially on Saturdays when Dustin didn't have to work. So a few weeks ago we went to Yellowstone when they were having a free entry weekend. We had so much fun! We saw hot pools, mud pots, geysers, waterfalls, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, a beautiful lake, Old Faithful, and a lot of wildlife: buffalo, deer, antelope, elk, fish, and a bald eagle in its nest. Way cool! We pretty much fit in as much as we could in a day and we saw a bunch! We were tuckered out by the end of the day, but it was worth it! What amazing, powerful creations and so much beauty there is in nature.
Our first stop and some really awesome hot pools at the Fountain Painted Pots!
In front of a hot pool, stinky and steaming, at the Fountain Painted Pots!
We took a break and ate our picnic lunch in the back of the car!
Jack and Dustin walking down the famous boardwalks!
My favorite pool: Sapphire Pool
Jack and Daddy by Daddy's favorite hot pool: Emerald Pool!
Classic picture by the Old Faithful sign!
I am fully aware that I look like a doof in this picture, but it is the only one we had of us as a family at Old Faithful, plus Jack and Dustin look really cute!
Jack eating a sucker and anxiously awaiting the eruption of Old Faithful....
And there she blows.....Finally!
Jack chilling by some Geysers!
This was probably my favorite part of the day. This geyser, I think it was called Chimney Rock, went off right as we were walking past. It shot so high and with so much force, and we were lucky enough to see it go off when it only goes off two times a day!
Dustin by the sweet Chimney one!
That is the non-erupting Old Faithful I am pointing at.
Yes that is the front of our car and yes that is an elk walking right by it. I seriously almost WALKED into it. I had got out and ran across the street to take a picture of two other elk that were further away and came back to get into the car and almost ran smack dab into this one sauntering out of the woods!
Overlooking the meadow where a TON of buffalo were!
This buffalo was seriously RIGHT next to the road! Two large animals within spitting distance is a pretty good day! :)
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone! It is so beautiful!
At the overlook for Lower Falls! (It was so scary!)
Seriously. This overlook was scary! Looking straight down and over the falls! Yikes!
Overlooking the "Grand Canyon of Yellowstone"
Jack and Daddy at the overlook for Lower Falls. (Yeah, a very creative name!)
Jack always seems to pose cute in pictures with Daddy, but never with me. So here is my picture with Jack by the falls and it shows Jack's new weird obsession. He likes to stick his hand down my shirt. Don't worry. We are trying to stop this one right away. But a funny side story, while we were in Kansas he did that and this nice old neighbor lady saw and said, "Oh did you nurse him?" I was like "Yeah" but thought to myself..."But definitely not recently enough that he remembers where the supply is...."
Okay, so here is a better one of us by Lower Falls.
Our sweet boy didn't even make it out of the park before he was fast asleep! What a sweet boy!
